The Wine Road

The slopes of Etna are home to some of the most distinctive vineyards in Europe, where the grapes are harvested by hand with all the delicacy reserved for a precious fruit.

Etna DOC is one of the oldest in Italy and the first recognized Sicilian DOC. To be classified with this appellation, vines must be located in the province of Catania; more precisely in the municipalities of Biancavilia, S. Maria di Licodia, Paternò, Belpasso, Nicolosi, Pedara, Trecastagni, Viagrande, Aci S. Antonio, Acireale, S. Venerina, Giarre, Mascali, Zafferana, Milo, S. Alfio, Piedimonte, Linguaglossa, Castiglione and Randazzo.

The tour encompasses wineries, farms, accommodations and restaurants, giving the traveler unforgettable experiences, with ample scenery ranging from fresh mountain air to sea breezes. Among other things, the oragnized activities make it possible to explore the Etna area on the old Circumetnea Railroad wagon train. The Etna Wine Train is a unique way to experience a unique place in the world. You will travel the slopes of Mount Etna, the highest volcano in Europe, aboard the narrow-gauge railcar of the Circumetnea Railway.
